Meirion is originally from Llanfyllin in mid Wales and came to Leeds to study at Leeds Metropolitan University. He then worked for the NHS in Newcastle before returning to Yorkshire to team up with Tony Smith at Huddersfield Giants RLFC.
In April 2002, he moved to Headingley Carnegie to join Leeds Tykes, originally as Academy Physiotherapist before being promoted at the start of the 2003-04 season to Head Physiotherapist. During this time the Leeds Tykes maintained their position in the Guinness Premiership and enjoyed the clubs only silverware by beating Bath RUFC at Twickenham in the Powergen Cup Final.
In 2006 he became Leeds Rhinos Head Physiotherapist and in the following three seasons the team won three Grand Finals and become World Club Champions by beating Australian champions Melbourne Storm. In 2010 he was appointed head of sports medicine for Leeds Rugby which includes Leeds Carnegie and Leeds Rhinos.
Meirion has also conducted consultancy work with a wide range of other professional sports including martial arts, golf, football and athletics.
In 2008, he was appointed as the England Rugby League national team Physiotherapist for the World Cup in Australia and is continuing in this role for the autumn Four Nations tournament.
