Martin is originally from Preston and graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2000. He then worked for the NHS before taking up a post as Assistant First Team Physiotherapist at Leeds Tykes Rugby Union Club.
In September 2002, he became Head Physiotherapist at Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Club. During this period the club gained promotion into Super League.
In November 2006 he became Head Physiotherapist at Bradford Bulls Rugby League Club.
In May 2010 Martin became a full time Clinical Director for Pro Sport providing private clinics in Leeds and York.
Martin also does consultancy work in a number of sports including rugby, golf, football and athletics.
