Active Release Technique is the gold standard technique in soft tissue therapy.

This is a state of the art soft tissue treatment that specifically looks to break up adhesions and scar tissue between particular tissues. With general massage we will address the quadriceps for example as one and use techniques such as petrissage and efflourage.

However with Active Release Technique we look at how the vastus lateralis muscle is sliding relative to the rectus femoris and similairly if a nerve is getting caught up in between muscles.

Simply applying specific tension on a muscle one way and moving another muscle in the opposite direction we can easily address scar tissue and adhesions and restore full joint range of movement in minimal time.

Pro Sport Physiotherapy Clinicians were some of the first physiotherapists in the UK to be qualified in Active Release Technique and indeed were responsible for bringing Active Release Technique courses to the UK. Pro Sport Physiotherapy clinicians have undergone extensive training in these techniques and have noticed the difference in the rate of which patients were responding as opposed to traditional forms of hands on therapy.

Active Release Technique is not only used for injuries but can also be used in injury prevention and indeed pre competition and perfromance enhancement manual therapy.
